Today in western Civilization we went over our notes and learned about two plays.
Lysistrata- The females got sick and tired of the men fighting so they got together and told the men that they would not have "a relationship" with them if they continued to fight. They then stopped fighting
Oedipus rex- An old woman told the king his son would kill him so he ordered one of his servants to kill the baby. The king tied his feet together and handed him to the servant. The servant couldn't do it so he left the baby on a hill. Another family found him and raised him.Once the baby grew older, he went into town, ran into the carriage that the king was in and killed the king. The boy ended up becoming king and started sleeping with his mom. The old women said "I told your father so!" The boy said "what?" and the women explained how she predicted fait. The boy connected the dots and soon everyone knew he killed his father and slept with his mom. They all made terrible, disgusted faces at him so he explained his story on stage, took two big needles, stabbed them in his eyes, and made himself blind so he didn't have to see the looks on their face. Then his sisters/step kids had to assist him with walking. He could still hear what they they had to say. This was a tragedy and the moral is you can't escape fate.
