In West Civ today we started a new unit and took notes on Chapter two Early River Valley Civilizations. I took two pages of notes and we had a debate about Hammurabi's code. In the debate we talked about lawyers, poor people, rich people, lazy people who are rich vs. poor people who are very intelligent and have a drive and the punishment time. Hammurabi's code was the first written down laws that give punishments for their actions. The Interaction with the environment, power and authority, and Science and technology are the key points of the chapter. The main idea of this chapter is that in Asia, arose Mesopotamia and it was organized into city-states. The curved shape and richness of the Fertile crescent led the scholars to name it this. Tigris and Euphrates flooding Mesopotamia. The early civilizations created bronze tools , the wheel, the sail, the plow, writing, and mathematics.
